A Florida native, Amanda Martin developed a love for the marine environment at a very young age. She followed her passion earning her bachelor of science at the University of Miami, Rosenstiel School of Marine & Atmospheric Science. Seeking new experiences, knowledge and culture, she moved to Australia to work and live abroad after earning her degree.
When she returned from Australia, Amanda pursued her masters in Marine Biology and Coastal Zone Management at Nova Southeastern University. During this time she worked as a scientific diver and researcher in the GIS and Spatial Ecology Lab, focusing on coral reef ecology and socioeconomics impacts of reef use. She also served as the Oceanographic Center’s student body president. Along with her amazing team, she started the now six year running, Motion for the Ocean 5k event held on the beach to raise money for AMI Kids, an organization that fosters community service involvement and improves education opportunities for troubled youth, promoting marine science and STEM career paths.
Amanda has worked for Resolve Marine Group for over three years, serving as their OPA90 (Oil Pollution Act of 1990) maritime compliance and client relation specialist. With her marine science and coastal zone management background, she has now joined the Mission Resolve Foundation team to assist in implementing actionable solutions to environmental challenges and humanitarian relief needs. She whole-heartedly believes that together, with passion and perseverance, we can effect change.
